San Isidro Labrador Parish of Alabel at 30  The year 2018 marked the thirtieth (30th) Patronal Fiesta and thirty (30) glorious years of San Isidro Labrador Parish of Alabel, Sarangani Province upon its creation as a parish May 15, 1988, by Bishop Dinualdo D. Gutierrez, D.D. The name “Alabel” comes from the family names of “Alaba” and “Beldad”, who were the first settlers of Alabel. In 1947, Mr. Santiago Alaba, and Mr. Tomas Beldad, Sr., migrated to a place called Mulo and Beto, and settled there with their families. Later, the place became a barrio of the Municipality of Buayan (which later transferred to Dadiangas and became General Santos). In 1956, the place was renamed Alabel in honor of Alaba and Beldad. Alabel became a municipality in 1971. Alabel was formerly part of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish of Lagao. In 1968, a chapel was built at a vacant lot where the present parish church now stands.
